Our day in Anchorage

We were greeted this morning with sunshine and warmth.  A perfect day for trying to pack into a few hours what Anchorage has to offer.  And the city has a lot to offer.  We started at the Alaska Zoo, a zoo with many rescued animals, some in well-designed environments.   It is a small zoo and well adapted for kids and older visitors.  I liked that.

After the zoo it was off to the chocolate factory for a treat before we stopped for lunch.  After lunch we headed out to the Alaska Botanical Gardens.  As we approached one of the numerous moose crossing signs, a cow and calf stepped out on to the road.  I yelled moose, but no one was ready to take a picture of course.

Then, it was off to the ULU knife factory before checking out a salmon river with a few fish swimming upstream.  Dave said he saw a King Salmon of at least 40 lbs. but no picture proof.

Our day in Anchorage came to an end with a trolley tour of downtown and dinner at the Bridge Restaurant built over the same river where we saw the fish earlier.
