Bus Ride to Denali

Linda and I got on the early bus this morning to go see Denali National Park up close and personal.  Dave & Tammy did this last time they were here so they stayed in the RV.

What a great way to see the park, well it is the only way as well.  At mile 13 of 92 they turn back all private vehicles and only park buses are allowed any further.  We opted to go with the upgraded “Tour” bus instead of the green shuttle bus.  The upgrade meant cloth seats, not vinyl, a box lunch and bottled water, and the driver has a closed circuit video camera that he uses to zoom in on the animals.  That was handy when the wildlife was not on your side of the bus.  What it did not include was more legroom.  In fact most airlines give you more legroom in coach.  The driver was very well versed in the details of the park.  He also knew how to navigate the narrow road (one lane with no guard rails).

This time the sky was overcast and we did not get a good view of Denali but we did get a great view of wildlife.  The only specie we didn't encounter was a wolf.  That means we saw moose, Dall sheep, caribou, fox, and grizzly bear.  I didn't get pictures of them all, but quite a few.
